Laszlo hopes no sale is necessary

Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo says hopes he will not be forced to sell some of his top players in order to ease any financial issues at the club.

The Tynecastle club's finances have come under scrutiny over the delay in payment of the squad's wages for the second time this season.

"If you lose four or five players, I don't think this is a good development for us," said Laszlo.

"But if we could get five or six other players I'd like, it would be okay."

Club captain Christophe Berra, Laryea Kingston, Bruno Aguiar and Andy Driver are some of the players who would command healthy transfer fees should Hearts wish to sell.

And Lithuanian Marius Zaliukas has also been linked with a move, with reports two Russian clubs are weighing up a 2m bid for the centre-half.

"I can't tell you what will happen in January, but I hope we don't have to sell players. I hope this will be okay," said Hearts boss Laszlo.

"I talk every day with the sport director Anatoly Korobochka, the football department, and the owner.

"We have the intention to build a good team.

"We also have the intention to buy and sell, this is normal. But it is also my intention to be successful."

However, Laszlo was remaining tight-lipped on the subject of bringing Celtic striker Chris Killen to the club in January.

One player who hopes he can continue his long association with Hearts is Robbie Neilson.

The full-back is the longest-serving player within the current squad, and revealed he has entered talks about extending his contract which expires at the end of the season.

"We'll see what happens over the next few months but I'd love to stay here," said Neilson.

Two weeks ago, Hearts staff experienced the second delay to their wages in three months.

A number of creditors also say they were made to wait for bills to be settled, and Arbroath are awaiting around 15,000 as a sell-on fee from Andy Webster's transfer to Wigan.
