A move to Russia does not appeal to Gordon |
Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon insists he will not be forced into a transfer move to Russia. The club were reported to be interested in selling their prize asset in January and Spartak Moscow were keen on taking the Scotland international.
But Gordon told the News of the World: "I don't see a move to Russia as the best move at this stage of my career.
"If I am going to leave the club I supported as a boy it will be to one of the big leagues."
Gordon was reinstated to the Hearts team on Saturday after missing out on the last four matches, with head coach Valdas Ivanauskas claiming transfer speculation had unsettled him.
And the 24-year-old held talks with club owner Vladimir Romanov on Thursday.
"We had a nice chat. I told him where I stood, he told me where he stood," said Gordon.
"There were no rows, no accusations, everything was totally amicable. It was no big deal."
Fulham made an offer for Gordon in January, while the keeper also revealed that German giants Bayern Munich were interested.
"My understanding is Hearts turned down Fulham's bid because it didn't meet their valuation, which is flattering," continued Gordon.
"Bayern Munich never met Hearts' asking price either, so there was nothing to consider there.
"People always talk about Arsenal wanting me but there was no offer from Arsene Wenger so what was there to think about?"
