Newell brings in Sheedy
Hartlepool's new assistant manager Kevin Sheedy
Sheedy spent five years at Tranmere
Division Three leaders Hartlepool have named Kevin Sheedy as their new assistant manager.

Sheedy will link up with former Everton team-mate Mike Newell, the Hartlepool manager.

Until July 2001 Sheedy had been Tranmere's assistant manger.

Sheedy had been at Prenton Park for five years and filled in as caretaker-manager after the departure of John Aldridge last season.

Hartlepool had their lead over Rushden at the top of the Division Three table cut to one point after losing to Rochdale on Saturday.
