Hamilton Accies have completed the signing of Jim Goodwin, the versatile 28-year-old having been a free agent after being released by Huddersfield.
Goodwin, who can play in defence or midfield, has been capped by Republic of Ireland at youth and senior levels.
Accies manager Billy Reid said: "I have been tracking Jim for a while and I'm delighted to add him to the squad. He gives us more strength."
Goodwin, who has signed until January, had been with Huddersfield since 2008.
However, he spent the second half of last season on loan to Oldham Athletic in League One.
Goodwin arrives at New Douglas Park shortly after Hamilton parted company with summer signing Jack Ross only two games into the wing-back's year-long contract.
The Waterford-born Goodwin had started his career with Celtic, spending three seasons with the Glasgow club before heading for Stockport County.
After three years with the Hatters, he moved on to Scunthorpe United in 2005 then Galpharm Stadium.
Huddersfield released him from his contract last week ahead of the closure of the transfer window.
