Hamilton and defender Jack Ross have parted ways - just two games into a year-long contract.
Ross started the 4-0 league defeats to both Aberdeen and Hearts but was not selected for Tuesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat at Raith Rovers.
The 34-year-old joined Accies in July after two seasons with Scottish Premier League rivals St Mirren.
The versatile defender, capped once for Scotland at B level in 2009, has also had spells at Clyde and Hartlepool.
The Lanarkshire side have also released forward Stuart Elliott by mutual consent.
Hamilton manager Billy Reid, who was in charge at Clyde when Ross was there, removed the player at half-time during Saturday's hammering at home from Hearts.
However, it is understood there has been no fall-out between the player and manager.
Last season a number of players signed by Reid quickly left after failing to impress as the club got off to a bad start to the campaign.
Ezomo Iriekpen lasted only a month after joining from Bristol City, while Spanish defender Luis Rubiales made only four outings before he departed.
Former Rangers defender Marvin Andrews was another who made only two first team appearances for Accies before going on loan to Queen of the South.
Ross, who will become a free agent, had attracted interest from St Johnstone and Kilmarnock after he left St Mirren but both clubs have since signed players for the position he was being considered for.
