Player aid for Shaymen
Halifax Town's players have agreed to wait for their win bonuses to help the club come through its cash shortage.

With Halifax mounting a determined promotion push in the Conference, Chris Wilder's men are clocking up bonuses for reaching a top-three position.

But the players have deferred those payments to help Town make ends meet.

The revenue from Saturday's game has to pay for the wages and running costs for February

Administrator Peter O'Hara

The move has been welcomed by administrator Peter O'Hara, who is hoping for a 3,000 crowd at the Shay for Saturday's game against Barnet.

This would bring in much-needed funds during a critical period for the club.

"Supporters will have read about other clubs in administration suffering from cashflow problems and that players have not received their wages or have been paid late," he said.

"So far this season we have met all our commitments, but we have only one home game this month and I urge the supporters to rally round.

"The revenue from Saturday's game has to pay for the wages and running costs for February.

"If the club can get through this month, we have a number of attractive home games in March and April.

"And with the possibility of a run in the FA Trophy the financial position will ease," O'Hara told the Halifax Evening Courier.
