Grays Athletic have re-signed Simon Downer for a second season at the New Recreation Ground.

The defender made 31 league appearances for the Blue Square Premier side last season, after signing from Weymouth on a free transfer.

The former Leyton Orient trainee, whose season was hit by injury, told the club's website he wanted to 'prove himself to the fans.'

The 27-year-old will complete the new deal on 28 June.
