Southend United will trial midfielder Richard Langley in their reserve game with Northampton on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old Luton Town player, who is available on a free transfer, will be watched by Blues boss Steve Tilson.
"We need another midfielder and he comes with experience, so this is the opportunity for us to run the rule over him," he told the club's website.
Langley has spent the last two seasons at Kenilworth Road and made over 150 appearances in two spells with QPR.
