Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish thinks wantaway striker Michael Gash will start the new season with his side.
Gash, who was Fleet's top scorer last term, agreed to move to York City this week in a joint-deal with defender Darius Charles.
But Charles rejected the move so both players returned to Stonebridge Road.
"At the moment I'm sure York do want to take them but at this moment in time that deal is no longer on," Daish told BBC Radio Kent.
"We are not being rushed into anything. They are both Ebbsfleet players and that's the way it stands at the moment.
"I see them as part of our squad at the start of the season," he added.
