Ebbsfleet have completed the signing of in-demand Cambridge City striker Michael Gash on a two-year contract in a deal worth 20,000.
Kettering had a bid accepted for the 21-year-old last week but he has decided to join Liam Daish's side.
Gash scored 27 goals for City last season in 29 games, including 23 in the Blue Square South.
City will receive a bonus if Ebbsfleet reach the play-offs and have also negotiated a sell-on clause.
The move was aided by an initiative by Fleet's owners MyFootballClub and fans, which raised 20,000 for Liam Daish to invest in his squad.
Daish told the club website: "I am delighted that we have managed to bring Michael to the club. He enjoyed his time with us on trial and he is a proven goal scorer.
"He is the right type of player for us at the right age. He chose Ebbsfleet over other options and we look forward to working with him to prepare him for full time Blue Square Premier football."
