Manager Liam Daish ended up having to watch the game through railings outside the ground after being sent off in Ebbsfleet's 2-0 defeat at Altrincham.
It followed an incident in the players' tunnel as the players left the field at the end of the first half.
But, due to the new laws in the Blue Square Premier, Daish could not even watch the second half from the stands.
"I actually went outside the ground, peered through some railings and only saw bits," he told BBC Radio Kent.
"I was told I had to stay in the changing rooms.
"It was as if I had been locked up and couldn't move and I didn't like that."
Daish explained that the incident involved a row with someone from Altrincham at half-time.
"I had a bit of a disagreement," he said. "Not with the ref but with someone else and the referee intervened.
"I went to the stand, later on he came out and said 'I can't go to the stand, I can't watch the game'.
"I made an opinion about their first goal, someone else got involved and made a personal remark about me, and he's sent me off for retaliation."
Ebbsfleet's next game is at home to Histon on Monday 6 October (1945 BST). You can hear commentary through the BBC Radio Kent website bbc.co.uk/kent
