Former Ajax midfielder Stanley Aborah is set to join Gillingham on an initial one-month contract.
The 23-year-old, who has Ghanaian and Belgian nationality, sealed the deal after spending a successful trial period with the club this summer.
He most recently played competitively in Slovakia, but because injury ruled him out for the last year he will join the Gills on a month-to-month basis.
Gillingham are waiting for international clearance for the deal.
Aborah first appeared for the Dutch club as a 17-year-old in a Champions League game against Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
He is expected to be in the squad for Gillingham's season opener against Cheltenham.
