Barcham is replacing suspended striker Mark McCammon
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has insisted having two short strikers at the club will not be a hindrance.
Striker Andy Barcham is 5ft 9in tall and Simeon Jackson stands at 5ft 7in.
But Stimson said: "Last year I had Aaron Mclean and he ripped this division to pieces. He's only 5ft but he was my best header of the ball.
"Andy's not far off that. He competes and isn't scared of being whacked by a 6ft defender, and with that mentality, you get stuck in and get your rewards."
Barcham has signed for the Kent club on a month's loan from Tottenham, and is covering for 6ft 2in striker Mark McCammon - who is serving a three-match ban.
He partnered Jackson in the Gills 1-0 win over Port Vale and the 21-year-old is expected to start Saturday's game at Exeter.
There is commentary of Exeter v Gillingham on Saturday 4 October on BBC Radio Kent.
