New Gillingham signing Albert Jarrett has revealed it is the attacking philosophy of manager Mark Stimson that attracted him to the club.
The Sierra Leone-born winger, 23, has joined the Kent side on a month's deal.
And he told BBC Radio Kent: "When the team is on the back foot he brings on an attacking option to take the stress off the back four and midfielders.
"I like the gaffer's ideas that he brings across to the team and I'm sure this year the aim is to win promotion."
He added: "Reaching the play-offs would be the minimum to be fair - anything less than that would be a disappointing season."
Jarrett is expected to get his first start at Exeter on Saturday following the departures of Charlie Daniels and Tyrone Berry.
There is commentary of Exeter v Gillingham on Saturday 4 October on BBC Radio Kent.
