Gillingham have failed with their appeal against Mark Bentley's three-game ban for being sent off during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Bradford City.
The midfielder was given a red card for a two-footed tackle on Bradford's Matt Clarke in the 58th minute.
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson said he and Bentley both thought the decision was harsh.
But despite support from Bradford manager Stuart McCall the FA upheld Bentley's punishment.
