Stimson is aiming for his side to bounce straight back into League One

Gillingham have added former Charlton first-team coach Mark Robson to their staff at Priestfield.

The 39-year old played in the top flight for Tottenham, West Ham and Charlton and has been on the coaching staff at the Valley since 2000.

Gills boss Mark Stimson said: "He'll be a big asset to the club, he's been around at the highest level."

The two men became friends when they were both at Tottenham in late 1980s and early 1990s.

Robson worked with Charlton's academy before becoming reserve-team manager and later first-team coach under Alan Pardew before leaving the Valley recently.

Stimson told BBC Radio Kent: "Now we've got 28 players, he'll take the players outside the first-team squad on a Friday and we can work more on the team as individuals or a back four, it's only going to benefit the club."
