Gateshead striker Graeme Armstrong has quit the club following the side's switch to full-time status in order to continue his teaching career.

Armstrong, 26, has opted against remaining with the Tynesiders despite an impressive first season in the Blue Square Premier under boss Ian Bogie.

Bogie told the club website: "Last season he chipped in with 10 goals and he is a player who has been pivotal.

"I am disappointed to lose him. He has made a big contribution."

After joining Gateshead from Dunston Federation for just £5,000 in 2007, the striker went on to score 48 goals in 144 games, including two in the club's 5-2 FA Cup first round defeat against League One side Brentford in November 2009.

Meanwhile Paul Farman, Craig Baxter, James Curtis, Carl Jones, Martin Brittain, Kris Gate, Phil Turnbull, Alex Francis, Steven Baptist and Brian Wake are among the players confirmed for the upcoming 2010-11 season.
