Gateshead midfielder Kris Gate could be out for the rest of the season after a scan on his thigh injury identified a grade-two muscle tear.
Gate, 25, will be out for at least six weeks, ruling him out of most of the Tynesiders' Blue Square Premier run-in.
He joined Gateshead in 2007 after his release from Newcastle United, and has scored 13 goals in 133 appearances.
Manager Ian Bogie now aims to bring in a midfield player on loan ahead of Saturday's trip to Rushden & Diamonds.
