Hughton was named Newcastle boss in October 2009

Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton has called on his side to maintain their momentum going into the final weeks of the season.

He told the club's website: "We're approaching a run of games that come thick and fast. Having a head of steam up going into them is very important.

"A run of consistent results over the next seven weeks should see us achieve our objective."

United travel to rivals Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Hughton added: "It won't be an easy game because they have won their last three home matches. But we're back to winning ways on the road."
