Newcastle defender Steven Taylor harbours title hopes
Taylor has been out of action since January with a knee injury
Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor hopes to add team honours to the Sport Newcastle Sports Personality of the Year award he claimed on Monday.
Taylor, 24, picked up the top prize at the city's Sports Awards dinner at the Newcastle Civic Centre and revealed his pride at receiving the award.
"Jonathan Edwards, Alan Shearer - to be in that category was a massive honour," Taylor told BBC Newcastle.
"The main thing now would be winning the Championship with Newcastle."
The Greenwich-born centre half, who has been out with a knee injury since the club's 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion, added that his rehabilitation has been going well.
"I won't set a date for coming back but I will be back before the end of the season definitely," he said.
"Things are looking good, I'm working hard with my strength coach Michael Pellegrino, so I'm going to work hard and get back as quickly as I can."
Taylor has made more than 150 appearances for Newcastle since signing professional terms at the club in July 2002.
