Gateshead moved out of the relegation zone with a hard-earned away draw against mid-table Histon.

The best chance of an open game fell to Gateshead defender Chris Swailes who headed over from close range.

Histon nearly opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time, but Charlie Sheringham's shot missed the target.

The visitors had further opportunities to claim the points but Phil Turnbull's fine 25-yard strike hit the post and two Andy Ferrell shots went wide.
