Tisdale says pressure is still on Exeter to avoid drop

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale insists the pressure is still on his side to retain their League One status.

A 1-1 draw away at Swindon on Monday extended the Grecians' unbeaten streak to nine matches, and put them five points clear of the drop zone.

But Tisdale told BBC Devon they are not safe quite yet. "You wouldn't even have the arrogance to utter it," he said.

"It's so elusive and there are so many teams fighting, we've got to focus and keep going with these results."

After taking the lead through James Dunne at the County Ground on Monday, Exeter's hopes of taking all three points suffered an injury-time blow when skipper Matt Taylor inadvertently put the ball into his own net.

But despite the disappointment, Tisdale was happy to praise the performance of his players.

He said: "I suppose it was inevitable that eventually they would score with that much pressure, but we've got a very valuable point away from home.

"We need every point so I'm not going to start getting greedy, it was a big performance and very close.

"We've still got it [momentum]," he added. "We could have built it a little more with a win, but a point away from home against one of the top teams in the league is not bad."

With just four games of the season remaining, the Exeter boss knows everyone at the club must keep their heads as they strive to achieve safety.

"Until it happens, I certainly won't relax," said Tisdale. "It's onto the next now, Tranmere away, and we need to focus on that."
