Daish fears good times have gone

Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish fears he will not be able to bring the good times back to Stonebridge Road.

The Fleet just missed out on the Conference play-offs two years ago and won the FA Trophy in 2008.

But they are now struggling at the wrong end of the Blue Square Premier, and the playing budget has been cut.

"We've had some great nights here and some great seasons. What happened in the summer has really rocked this club," Daish told BBC Radio Kent.

He added: "We've upped our profile and became a side that was respected throughout the league. I want that back as soon as possible."

Kent's second biggest club became known worldwide when they were taken over by fans' website MyFootballClub, in a landmark deal for English football in November 2007.

But membership numbers have plummeted and Daish has been forced to plead with the remaining subscribers to help him buy players.

Daish has managed to add a new striker to his squad for Saturday's game at Barrow. Elliott Charles, 19, has agreed an initial one month loan deal from Barnet.

The 6' 2" striker made his Bees debut against Brentford in August 2008, and has had previous loan spells at Farnborough, Lewes and Hemel Hempstead Town.
