Cronin gives new squad thumbs up

Ebbsfleet United goalkeeper Lance Cronin says his side's new-look squad has already gelled together.

Budget cuts left manager Liam Daish with just Cronin and two other senior players at the end of last season.

"We're only three games in and it looks like we've been together for a season or even longer," Cronin, 23, told BBC Radio Kent.

"Come Christmas time everyone will have a lot of games under their belt and they'll be really confident."

The England C keeper added: "They're a good group of lads and they're really determined to push on.

"Things are looking good at the minute."

Despite the exodus of players during the summer, Cronin insists he always wanted to stay at Stonebridge Road.

"It means the world to me. Ebbsfleet have given me my chance to play first-team football and the only way I can pay them back is by putting in good performances week-in week-out.

"The gaffer gave me my chance when I first came here.

"I'm thankful to that and I've kept my head down ever since. I want to get my head down and do the best that I can."

The Fleet are still looking for their first win of the season after two draws and one defeat.
