Fleet's owners raise player funds

Liam Daish
Daish is trying to put together almost an entirely new squad

Ebbsfleet United's internet owners have raised more than £12,000 to help manager Liam Daish buy five players.

Daish appealed to members of website MyFootballClub to help re-build his squad, after budget cuts left him with only three full-time professionals.

The money has enabled him to re-sign 24-year-old striker Ricky Shakes.

He has also signed four trialists - defender Jordan Collins, forward James Lindie, winger Ishmael Welsh and midfielder Jamie Forshaw.

The five players have each been given year-long contracts.

Shakes scored four goals in 37 games for Fleet last season.

Daish also hopes to bring defender Dean Pooley back to Stonebridge Road but negotiations are ongoing.

Several other trialists have impressed and more signings are expected within the next week.
