Luke Varney not re-joining Derby County - Tom Glick
Varney only started a total of 10 games for Derby
Derby County chief executive Tom Glick says Luke Varney will not return in January despite his impressive form on loan at Premier League side Blackpool.
Varney was not part of Rams boss Nigel Clough's plans and joined the Seasiders on a season-long loan in August.
The 28-year-old can still be sold to another team but the terms of the loan mean he cannot be recalled by the Rams.
"Blackpool - or any other club - are able to do a permanent deal with us in January," Glick told BBC Radio Derby.
"If that doesn't happen then he will continue to play at Blackpool for the second half of the season and we would be open to doing something with them - or any other club - in the summer."
For whatever reason he didn't settle here, he didn't perform here, he wasn't and isn't Nigel's selection... It is what it is and we all move on

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway had claimed that a deal was in place to sign the former Charlton man for £250,000 in January.
Glick added: "I think Ian would probably like to take some of those remarks back - I'm sure his chairman would - as there is an agreement not to discuss the terms.
"What has been put out in the media by Blackpool is not an accurate reflection of the situation. That being said, we are delighted for Luke that he's been playing so well and we remain interested in doing a deal with Blackpool - or another club - in January, or in the summer.
"In the meantime, we are thrilled he is performing well and Blackpool are enjoying their success.
"Most importantly we are delighted for Luke. For whatever reason he didn't settle here, he didn't perform here, he wasn't and isn't Nigel's selection.
"We just have to take that - it is what it is and we all move on. We wish success for Luke, we're glad he's been effective for Blackpool.
"He was not Nigel's selection in August; he's not now and we're glad he's doing well."
Varney joined the Rams for a deal in excess of £1m in January 2009.
