Derby County boss Nigel Clough says defender Shaun Barker will be fit for pre-season despite facing knee surgery.
Barker is having an operation to "wash out" the knee and the club insist it is a pro-active step to ensure he is ready for the start of next season.
Winger David Martin is facing a similar procedure on an ankle injury.
Clough told the club's website: "Both are routine operations. They will have a week or two prior to pre-season to get themselves in good shape."
