Martin impressed playing against the Rams in this season's FA Cup

Derby County boss Nigel Clough has completed the signing of Millwall winger Dave Martin on an emergency loan deal until the end of the season.

Martin, 24, has joined with a view to a permanent deal and goes straight into the squad for Tuesday's Championship match against Newcastle.

Clough said: "David is a player we have monitored for the last six months or so, and we have been very impressed.

"He is naturally left-sided and will bring some pace and balance."

He added: "He also has a real hunger and desire to better himself and play at a higher level.

"We believe he fits the bill in terms of the type of player we are looking to bring to Derby County."

Martin, who featured in both FA Cup third round ties against the Rams last month, was a key member of the Millwall side that reached the League One play-off final last season.
