CLYDESDALE BANK 40, Derby: Netherlands 209-3 beat Derbyshire 206 by seven wickets Match scorecard
Captain Rogers was the only home batsman to get out of the 20s |
Derbyshire slipped to a miserable seven-wicket CB40 home defeat as they were outplayed by the Netherlands. Skipper Chris Rogers (73) was the only Derbyshire batsmen to offer any resistance as the home side made 206. Tom Lungley removed Eric Szwarczynski to give Derbyshire hope of making inroads into the Dutch top order. But Australian Michael Dighton (110no) and Bas Zuiderent (42no) saw the visitors home to an impressive win on 209-3 with four balls to spare. It was Derbyshire's fourth defeat in Group B and victory was particularly sweet for Dighton who played for the county three years ago. His century from 106 balls was the decisive factor in the game. With 76 still needed from the last 10 overs, the game was in the balance, but Dighton and Zuiderent remained calm under pressure to seal victory with an unbeaten 127 stand.
