Green injury not serious - Clough

Derby County midfielder Paul Green will be part of the club's pre-season trip to the West Country as his injury is not as bad as first feared.

Green damaged his ankle after scoring in Saturday's friendly at Chesterfield.

Rams manager Nigel Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "He is much improved and he will make the trip with us to Devon.

"When you see him hobbling off it is a concern, but we would not take him if we did not think he had a chance of playing this week."

The Rams play three games in five days, facing Yeovil on Tuesday night, Torquay on Thursday and Exeter on Saturday afternoon.

The injured trio of Kris Commons, Rob Hulse and Dean Leacock will not be part of the squad.

"They're [Commons and Hulse] going to stay and train with the fitness and medical people, and we'd hope to get them on them pitch sometime next week," added Clough.

"Leacock will not travel down south, the medical people feel he would be better here doing a bit of leg work and stamina work with a view to playing again next week."

Clough admitted it was a blow to be without important players with the new season just over two weeks away.

"It isn't ideal, but as long as they get on the pitch and get some match time in the next two and a half weeks then hopefully they'll be in contention for the Peterborough match," he added.
