Jewell wants three more new faces

Jewell wants two players fighting for each position

Derby County manager Paul Jewell has said there will be more transfer dealings at Pride Park despite already bringing in nine new faces.

The Rams have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market but Jewell wants three more signings.

He said: "We are still two or three players short of where we want to be, we are working extremely hard.

"We need another striker, we need at least one more midfield player and possibly a wide player."

Jewell has had to turn his attention elsewhere after an eight-week chase for Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde ended with the Dutchman signing a new deal with the Swans.

The Rams manager wants more competition for places in his new-look squad: "If I can get the players in that I want then the squad will ideally have two players for each position."

After already bringing in Ruben Zadkovich, Paul Connolly, Nathan Ellington, Jordan Stewart, Kris Commons, Paul Green, Steve Davies, Martin Albrechtsen and Liam Dickinson, Jewell said the new players will have to take on his ideas quickly.

"The rebuilding is not finished by some distance, not just from the new players coming in but by the new players who are here trying to embrace the new ideas."
