Darlington have completed the signing of former Mansfield midfielder Michael Brough on a one-year deal.

Brough, 28, has extensive Football League and non-league experience, having made 278 professional appearances during his career.

The Nottingham-born player, who is comfortable at centre-half or in midfield, ended his spell at Mansfield at the end of last season.

He is new boss Mark Cooper's first addition to the Quakers squad.

In addition to his spell at Mansfield, Brough enjoyed a six-year stay at hometown club Notts County before making the move to Stevenage in 2004.

Spells at Forest Green Rovers, Torquay United and Salisbury City followed before another stint at Stevenage, and then Mansfield with whom Brough remained until the end of the previous campaign.
