Mansfield Town manager David Holdsworth has signed midfielder Michael Brough on a permanent deal from Torquay.
Brough, 28, joined on loan in November but has now signed on a free transfer until the end of the season.
"There was a lot of interest and he could have taken the easy option and gone for a bigger package with regards to finances," Holdsworth said.
"I'm delighted Michael's signed. He's very versatile and has played very well in the centre of defence."
Meanwhile Holdsworth is confident of tying up a longer deal with another loanee Andy Burgess very soon and is also hopeful that Oliver Hotchkiss will join the club permanently following his loan spell from Leeds.
