Darlington are set to sign defender O'Neil Thompson from Barnsley on a season-long loan deal.
The 27-year-old, who has made 21 international appearances for Jamaica, would link-up with former Reds boss Simon Davey at the Arena.
"It's likely O'Neil will move on his return from Jamaica," Barnsley director Don Rowing told BBC Tees.
Thompson has made just two appearances for Barnsley and also played twice on loan with Burton earlier this year.
He joined Barnsley in August 2009 from Norwegian side Notodden FK, after beginning his career with Boys' Town.
