Purdie joined Darlington from Hereford in June 2007
Darlington manager Dave Penney was full of praise for midfielder Rob Purdie for his role in the 5-1 win against Luton Town on Saturday.
Purdie, 26, scored from the spot to cap an energetic display in the Quakers midfield and Penney was left purring by his efforts, and the scoreline.
"He's a fantastic little footballer, he's bright and he's light on his toes," he told BBC Tees.
"It was a good game and I think we deserved to win."
The versatile Leicester-born player joined Darlington from Hereford in June 2007 after helping the club into the Football League, and has two England 'C' caps.
Meanwhile, Darlington travel to Accrington Stanley in League Two on Tuesday for a rearranged fixture.
And former Doncaster boss Penney admitted he knows what to expect from their trip to Lancashire, particularly given the hosts' recent results.
"They really come at you early doors, and try to get a foothold in the game like most home teams do," he said.
"They've had a decent result at Bradford [1-1 at Valley Parade on Saturday]. To get a draw is no mean feat, and they'll be up for it.
"But if we do the things like we did against Luton, then we'll be a handful for any team in this division."
Darlington moved up to third following Saturday's win, with 41 points from 24 games.
