Caretaker-boss Mick Tait opted not to extend the 19-year-old's stay for a third month. Named in Englands under-20 squad for their friendly against Germany next month, Offiong scored four times in his first five games with the Quakers. However, he has failed to find the net since and Tait will now look elsewhere for goal-scoring reinforcements. "It's been a good experience for Richard and I'm sure he'll go on to do very well," Tait told the Northern Echo newspaper. "He's a great young lad and it's been nice having him with us. It's all been a bit different for him but I think he's done well. "He's only young and still has a lot to learn but I can see him doing well for himself." Offiong is regarded as one of the rising stars in Newcastle's Academy. |
