Donaldson crowned Crewe Alexandra's player of the year
Clayton Donaldson is two short of 50 goals in all competitions for Crewe
Clayton Donaldson has been voted Crewe Alexandra's player of the year.
Donaldson has scored 28 times in all competitions this season and, along with Bury's Ryan Lowe, is the joint-top scorer in League Two with 27 goals.
The 27-year-old striker, who is out of contract at the end of the season, also collected the award for the away supporters' player of the year.
Defender Matt Tootle, 20, was named young player of the year at the ceremony on Saturday evening.
It took place hours after Crewe's 2-0 home victory over Stockport, which condemned the Hatters to relegation from the Football League.
Manager Dario Gradi gave late debuts to youngsters Oliver Turton and Casper Hughes and told BBC Radio Stoke: "We ended up with two more of our kids on, plus Antoni Sarcevic as well, and that will be good for them.
"Ollie didn't do anything wrong and Casper did what he can do, so that's a bonus for us."
The Alex end the campaign with a trip to Bradford on Saturday.
