Alex boss Dario Gradi wants more from Clayton Donaldson
Donaldson started his professional career with Hull City
Crewe boss Dario Gradi says striker Clayton Donaldson must score more goals if he is to fulfil his potential.
Donaldson, 26, is Crewe's top scorer this season with nine goals in all competitions, having hit 13 last term.
But the former York and Hibernian man is out of contract at the end of the season and Gradi wants to see more.
"Clayton gets a lot of chances, if he could improve the ratio of chances he scores he'd be playing in a higher league," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
Donaldson and fellow striker Shaun Miller have contributed 16 league goals for the Alex this season but Gradi says there is competition for places up front.
"AJ (Leitch-Smith) would have been in the running if he'd been fit, he was unlucky to lose his place in the first instance, he's a good goal taker.
"But Miller and Donaldson are decent strikers.
"I'm probably critical of them when the managers of teams playing against them would like them in their team.
"But at this level I think there's room for improvement in everybody, I'm not satisfied with having a team full of fourth division players," he said.
