Blanchett joined Crewe on a free transfer at the start of the season
Crewe Alexandra defender Danny Blanchett believes his team has the ability to beat runaway League Two leaders Chesterfield on Saturday.
The previous meeting between the two teams in October ended in a 5-5 draw.
"When we played up there, we were 4-1 up at half time," left-back Blanchett told BBC Radio Stoke.
"It doesn't mean that because they're the league leaders they're the best in the league. We've played against them at their place and played quite well."
Crewe were beaten 1-0 by Macclesfield on Tuesday and are now eight points from a play-off place.
Top scorer Clayton Donaldson missed the best chance to equalise for Dario Gradi's side at the Moss Rose, failing to beat goalkeeper Jose Veiga from the penalty spot.
"Clayton has been prolific all season and he's been massive for us," added Blanchett. "You can't really complain if he missed one penalty. It just didn't happen for us."
