Rhys Taylor will lose his ever-present record due to suspension
Crewe Alexandra have failed in their bid to have the red card shown to goalkeeper Rhys Taylor in Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Aldershot overturned.
Taylor, 22, was dismissed for handling the ball outside his penalty area in stoppage time with the score at 2-2.
Aldershot midfielder Luke Guttridge scored from the resulting free-kick to give the home side all three points.
Taylor will be banned for Tuesday's game against Bradford, with Steve Phillips set to take his place.
Taylor has been an ever-present for Crewe since joining on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season, but manager Dario Gradi says that the young keeper still has a lot to learn.
"Rhys has got a problem coming out of his goal," Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke. "He's given a few penalties away and he's come out of his goal when really we didn't need him out of his goal.
"But [defender] Patrick Ada hasn't been dealing with those balls either. The balls that go over his head cause him problems."
