Crewe manager Dario Gradi looking to sign four players
Gradi's side secured their Football League status with a draw at Aldershot
Crewe manager Dario Gradi has said he will not make wholesale changes to the squad at the end of the season.
Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "We need a few, and it's not easy because we won't have any money to spend. We've got to raise money rather than find it.
"We'll have to do what a lot of clubs in this league do, which is bring in free transfers or loan players.
"We won't bring in eight or nine players, but if we can bring in three or four, that would be good."
Having been relegated to League Two last year, the Alex have had a disappointing season, currently 18th in the table with three matches left to play.
Having been tipped as one of the favourites for promotion at the start of the season, they only managed to secure their Football League status with a 1-1 draw at Aldershot on Saturday.
One man that Gradi is hoping to keep hold of is on-loan goalkeeper Steve Phillips, who is likely to have an operation on his injured shoulder.
"Steve has been playing when he would perhaps rather not have been because he was in pain with his shoulders," said Gradi.
"I've told him we needed him, and he's responded very well. Now that we don't need him, we'll look after him first."
