Goalkeeper Steve Phillips looks for permanent deal

Goalkeeper Steve Phillips has said he would like to join Crewe on a permanent basis but is not interested in another loan spell from Bristol Rovers.

"There won't be an extension of the loan deal, that's for sure," the 31-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I'm looking for somewhere permanent. If Dario Gradi feels I can improve the team long-term. I'd expect him to come and speak to me."

Phillips has been told he can leave the Memorial Stadium on a free transfer.

"There's a few clubs showing a bit of interest in me, but I'd like to sit down and listen to what Dario has to say," added Phillips.

"I'd like to stay. It's a super club and shouldn't be in this division. The facilities and the stadium are brilliant and the team have the ability to get out of this division."

Phillips had a loan spell with fellow League Two side Shrewsbury earlier in the season, before joining the Alex in November.

He has made seven appearances, keeping one clean sheet against Lincoln on 5 December.
