Simon Walton was signed by former Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson
Crewe midfielder Simon Walton believes caretaker manager Dario Gradi is the right man to help his career progress.
The 22-year-old, now with his ninth professional club, is hopeful that Gradi can get the best out of him.
Walton told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've not had much help over the past couple of years. I'm still young. I'm only 22.
"I need somebody to help me out. Everybody needs help. I do see him as somebody who can push me on and help my career hopefully."
Walton was signed by former boss Gudjon Thordarson, but struggled to establish himself after agreeing a season-long loan move from Championship side Plymouth Argyle.
Injuries to James Bailey and Steven Schumacher have given Walton his chance in Crewe's first team and he wants to make the most of his opportunity.
"It didn't start great for me, which was a bit disheartening," added Walton. "I just kept my head down and did what was asked of me.
"I've enjoyed it here and now I'm back playing it's even better."
The former Leeds midfielder will start his third consecutive game for the Alex against Burton at the Alexandra Stadium on Tuesday.
