Patrick Ada has assured Crewe fans that he will be able to make the step up to the Football League and help the Alex push for promotion next season.

Ada, who joined Crewe from part-timers Histon, was manager Gudjon Thordarson's first signing of the summer.

"I want to give everything I've got to play my part. We want to bounce back straight away and I want to be part of that plan," Ada told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I am going to push myself to be the best I can be."

The 24-year-old from Cameroon said the decision to join Crewe was a simple one.

"I had a few options, but when Crewe came in for me it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down," said Ada.

"They have a huge history, with Dario Gradi and so many great players in the past.

"When I saw the facilities here (at the training ground at Reaseheath) I couldn't believe it. I'm just so excited to be here."

Ada will be joined at the Alexandra Stadium by Mat Mitchel-King, his former captain at Histon, after he completed a move to the League Two side on Monday.

Histon just missed out on promotion to the Football League in May, losing in the semi-final of the Blue Square Premier play-offs to Torquay United.
