Injuries have restricted Schumacher to 32 league starts in two years at Crewe
Crewe midfielder Steven Schumacher is hopeful he will have recovered from a knee injury in time for the start of the League Two season.
Schumacher, 25, has not played since the 3-2 defeat to Leeds on 23 March.
"I'm not 100% fit yet, but I went to Lilleshall for a few days of intensive rehab and that seems to have helped a lot," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I'm looking forward to going into pre-season training and building gradually so I can be ready for August."
Schumacher's career at the Alexandra Stadium has been blighted by a series of injuries.
Since joining the Alex from Bradford in the summer of 2007, he has been restricted to just 48 appearances.
Crewe will begin their League Two campaign at home to Dagenham and Redbridge, and Schumacher knows the importance of making a flying start to the season.
"We want to get promoted, that's got to be the aim," Schumacher added. "We want to be operating at the top end of the table throughout the season."
