Crewe defender Dennis Lawrence has admitted that the mask he wears to protect his fractured cheekbone does make him feel "uncomfortable".
But Lawrence, who returned in the 1-0 win over Colchester, insists he is happy to continue playing in it.
"It had to be done, we understand the reasons," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
"If there's something I can do to be involved I'll take the chance. The option was there to use the mask, it's uncomfortable but there for a reason."
He added: "The healing process is about four weeks, and I've just gone past two weeks, so the mask has taken two weeks of it.

"To come back and help get a result for the team was good."
Crewe's victory at the Community Stadium took them six points above the relegation zone in League One.
The 34-year-old sustained the injury in the 2-0 victory against Yeovil on 24 February, and missed four League One matches while he recovered.
The Trinidad and Tobago international is on loan at Crewe from Championship side Swansea until the end of the season.
