Steve Marcella has left his role as goalkeeping coach of Crewe Alexandra, just a month after joining the club.

Marcella has cited travelling from his South Yorkshire home as the main reason for his decision to leave.

He had been working with the four goalkeepers at the Alexandra Stadium since the arrival of new manager Gudjon Thordarson in December.

Marcella had renewed his partnership with the Icelander, following previous spells at Notts County and Barnsley.
