Tomlinson looking to prove worth

Crewe Alexandra

Crewe goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson has said he would be disappointed if manager Gudjon Thordarson brought another keeper to the club.

Tomlinson, 23, and fellow stopper Steve Collis have both been criticised by the Icelander in recent weeks.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "If he did want to bring someone in it would be disappointing but it's his decision.

"I'm out of contract in the summer so I'm just trying to play as many games as I can and hopefully impress."

Thordarson has spoken of his desire to bring a goalkeeping coach to the Alexandra Stadium, and Tomlinson said it would be a welcome addition to the coaching staff.

"Certain people at the club don't think we need one but there's lots who do," said Tomlinson. "If you asked the goalkeepers they'd all love to have a goalkeeping coach.

"It seems like it's been decided that a goalkeeping coach isn't needed but I'd certainly feel better if we had one."
