Crewe keeper looks for new deal

Crewe Alexandra

Crewe goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson has said he wants to earn a new deal at the Alexandra Stadium.

The 23-year-old has only made 20 appearances for Alex despite having been with the club since 2000, but has played the last three first-team games.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's been nice to get a few games and show what I can do.

"My contract is up in the summer so I need to be playing to well to show that I deserve a new deal."

Tomlinson has just returned to fitness after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in March whilst on-loan with Burton Albion.

"I've been injured a long time," said Tomlinson.

"When it first happened I didn't think it was too bad, my knee just clicked.

"Before the surgery I though I'd only done my medial ligament, but when I woke up and they told me it was the cruciate, I felt sick."

Tomlinson has been restored the Crewe starting XI by caretaker manager Dario Gradi and he said he is now determined to him to repay the faith that has been shown in him.

"I must have been doing something right in training," said Tomlinson.

"Dario's done me a favour. Now I have to show him what I can do."
