Gradi 'enjoying' Crewe challenge

Dario Gradi
Gradi has taken charge of Crewe for over 1,200 games

Dario Gradi has said he is enjoying the challenge of managing Crewe and will stay in the caretaker role for as long as is required.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've only been in the role for a week but at the moment it is enjoyable.

"It is a challenge, a challenge that I thought had gone, but at the minute it is one that I am enjoying."

The Alex board of directors met on Thursday night to discuss a potential successor to Steve Holland.

Chairman John Bowler said: "We have considered all the candidates and will explore a couple of those applicants further as well as looking at other options."

Gradi returned to the hot-seat at the Alexandra Stadium after Holland was relieved of his duties on 18 November.

The 67-year-old had previously spent 24 years in charge at Crewe before taking up the role of technical director in the summer of 2007.

"What I'm doing at the minute is buying time for the board," said Gradi.

"Whoever they get in will not be dramatically different and I'm competent enough to have a go and keep things ticking over.

"How much time I can bide will depend on results over the next few weeks," he added.
